Starting Feb. 1, 2026, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will implement a new program called "TSA ConfirmID." This program allows passengers who do not present acceptable identification to verify their identity at checkpoints for a $45 fee.
Important Information for Tribal Citizens: The TSA wants to ensure all travelers are aware that photo identification cards issued by a federally recognized tribal nation or Indian tribe, including enhanced tribal cards, are acceptable forms of identification. Passengers presenting these forms of tribal ID are exempt from the $45 fee and will proceed to security screening as usual.
Acceptable Forms of Identification include:
– U.S. passport or passport card
– U.S. Department of Defense ID
– DHS trusted traveler card
– Photo ID issued by federally recognized tribal nation/Indian tribe
– Enhanced tribal cards
– REAL ID/enhanced driver's license
Additionally, travelers with disabilities or medical conditions can request assistance by contacting the TSA Cares helpline (855‑787‑2227) at least 72 hours prior to their flight.
