This program is a mortgage that is guaranteed by HUD. If the recipient defaults on the mortgage, HUD pays the lender.

HUD/Section 184 Loan Website

Section 184 can be used for:

  • Purchase an existing home
  • Construction loans for stick built or manufactured on permanent foundations
  • Rehab loans
  • Refinancing loans

Eligibility:

American Indian or Alaska Native who are members of a Federally recognized Tribe.

  • An Indian Tribe
  • A Tribally Designated Housing Entity (TDHE)
  • An Indian Housing Authority (IHA)

Lender Participation:

Loans are originated and serviced by lenders that have completed Section 184 training. The Sault Tribe Housing Authority does not process mortgage's. Please contact one of the lendors listed below.
