SUMMARY:Healing Ceremony and Memorial Walk
DTSTAMP:20240329T112416Z
DESCRIPTION:Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Advocacy Resource Center and the Sault Tribe language and Culture Department welcome you to attend a traditional healing ceremony and memorial walk to honor the lives and spirits of the Indigenous children whose remains were recently discovered in unmarked graves at residential boarding schools across Canada and those yet to be brought home in the United States. We wish to honor their lives and find peace and healing together. These children were among the thousands stolen from their families and communities that loved them. This discovery reveals the violent and genocidal history of the residential school system on the lives of the Indigenous and their families. A journey to healing and commemorate the lives of our children will take place Friday, Aug. 20, 2021, at the Niigaanagiizhik Ceremonial Building and Powwow Grounds, 11 Ice Circle, Sault Ste.
